The Ice Climbers are an interesting character in that you actually control two characters, one of which will mirror the other's actions after a slight delay. Because of this dual character mechanic, the Ice Climbers can utilize some unique advanced techniques.

Dr. Mario can edgeguard effectively using his Back Aerial, Super Sheet, and his slow-moving projectile, Megavitamins. A good aerial game, wavedash, and SHFFL also contribute to his overall strength as a character.

Mr. Game & Watch generally acts as a speedy, weak character; however, he does have some incredibly powerful KO moves, most of which are slow

Roy

Roy Rank: F-Tier

Smashwiki
View content

Overall, Roy does not fall into any specific archetype of characters; while having a slew of powerful attacks, Roy himself is rather nimble, with a relatively fast dash, a good dash dance and a very high falling speed. However, Roy has a relatively poor air speed. A combination of a fast falling speed and a low traction gives Roy a decent wavedash.

Mewtwo

While initially deemed the worst character in the game, the changing metagame of Melee caused Mewtwo to experience a rise of five places. Mewtwo's good attributes include a long, safe, and difficult-to-counter recovery, a rather good chaingrabbing ability, a large variance of mix-up options, a decent combo ability, and among the best throws in the game.

Zelda

One of Zelda's strengths is the perhaps surprising amount of power. Within the air, her forward and back aerials of the Lightning Kick can KO at as low as 70% to 80%, and her up air has a large hitbox that can also KO opponents.

Ness

Ness Rank: F-Tier

Smashwiki

While still having fantastic throws and a great aerial game due to his double jump cancel, Ness has a poor approach on the ground and in the air due to significant range issues in most of his attacks.

Pichu

Pichu Rank: F-Tier
Frame Data
Smashwiki
View content

One of Pichu's main advantages is its perhaps surprising power. While its smashes are all of short range, all are unusually powerful considering Pichu's small frame. Its up smash and forward smash contain incredible power, being able to KO characters reliably at as little as 70 to 80 percent, while its down smash semi-spikes opponents and has invincibility frames.

Bowser

Bowser Rank: F-Tier
Frame Data
Smashwiki
View content

Bowser acts as the game's primary "slow and powerful" fighter; other equally heavy and powerful characters, such as Donkey Kong and Ganondorf, are of considerably higher speed than Bowser in a variety of ways.

Kirby

Kirby Rank: F-Tier

Owing to his small size, Kirby also has an above-average defensive game. His small hitboxes can potentially allow him to avoid attacks, while his small size also lends itself to a large shield, making Kirby relatively safe from shield stabbing.
